How to Ruin a Perfectly Good FPS

I have a tendency to ruin the gaming experiences of others. I’ve been like this for at least 10 years now. Ever since playing Nethack Multiplayer, I have enjoyed the misfortune of others in gaming communities. I can’t tell you how many gaming clans I’ve been booted from for cheating, trolling, profanity and other assorted hijinx.

Everyone is leaving because they are mad.

My favorite gaming pasttime is cheating. This tends to make people rage uncon[troll]ably and has netted me a bit of e-fame in the EA and HomeFront Forums. I would post directly to the threads, but I go under so many pseudonyms, it is hard to keep track. Just look for things like ThomasTehTrain and AA.Net.

Here are some screenshots to show what I am talking about.

I make gaming suck.

That is just a small example of the type of responses that I get on a daily basis. Yes, I have been banned before due to my hacks getting detected, or mouthing off to game devs. All things considered, that’s really the most effective way to provoke a response: mess up someone else’s gaming experience.

Aimbot 180 HEADSHOTS OMG

There are other methods such as teamkilling/teamwounding, spawnkilling and delaying objectives, but I have always had a profound love of cheating. Yes, it does get tiring and yes, it can get a bit redundant at times. But when it invokes a response of profanity ridden GTFO’s and PLEASE STOP’s, it just reminds me of how easy it is to disrupt serious gameplay and the false immersion of our youth.

Most people give the ‘I hack because it’s fun’ excuse. I have a different reason. Why do I hack? Because it gives a wakeup call to the kids behind the monitors. Something abnormal comes along and it messes with their world view on false reality. A couple (about 50) well placed headshots every time they spawn can elicit a response from them. It can change a person’s entire view of gaming.

Take, for instance, the well known group, myg0t. They have been leaders in provoking online rage for years, and are responsible for also provoking my initial interest in the idea of “a game is a game is a game”.

Games should not be taken seriously, especially online. When taken seriously, hilarity can – and often does – ensue. I have a video for you all to watch of me ruining a good game of Counter Strike: Source. Take a look and listen to the conversation:

I ended up getting that admin’s account banned and his account was vac banned in a week because I used public detected cheats that were almost a year old. Yes, I might have went a wee bit too far, but it was funny nonetheless.

The moral to the story is: Don’t take online games seriously. It will give you an ulcer.
