Super Smash Land – The Greatest Fan Demake Ever

Yes, demake as in use of the ancient Game Boy graphics that you once had glued to your eyes when you were a kid (provided you weren’t a measly sperm cell at the time). Super Smash Land, being released just recently, is a project game worked on by Dan Fornance from late last year throughout the rest of this year. The project was to bring all the glory of the original Super Smash Bros. game into an original Game Boy-esque game. Keep in mind that this isn’t a ROM hack or a custom made ROM that you can play on a Game Boy emulator.

It’s been quite the wait, as interested fans eagerly visited the official development site for this project, but once playing it you’ll find the wait was worth it. There are changes to the game besides reverting to a more primitive style. For instance, there is the inclusion of an online scoreboard as well as some changes to the game’s mechanics such as the exclusion of blocking, dodging, and grabbing. Without a doubt, this game shows just how impressive a fan-made game can be, especially of this caliber.

So, what exactly can you expect from this? Chip tune sound tracks, that old funny colored monochromatic screen, only two buttons besides the directional pad, and of course nostalgia upon nostalgia. Oh, and the fact that this game doesn’t suck compared to other fan games in the past and isn’t still in beta testing. You can download it  here right now, for free, of course.

Now if you excuse me, I’m going to waste the precious moments of my life playing this game rather than do something productive or live up to my potential.
