Family Guy Online, The Worst Idea For An MMO, Is Closing

When Family Guy Online was first announced over a year ago, many with enough sanity to see that Family Guy is a really bland, shitty show collectively facepalmed and shook their heads in distaste. I know I did. The game describes itself as “The world’s first ‘MMLOL’ [ugh]… free-to-play, browser-based, massively multiplayer, laugh-out-loud role playing game.“ The MMO of course attracted hundreds of Family Guy fans (who else would play this shit?), although like predicted, that wasn’t enough to really keep the game afloat. Like the show, the game too was crap, and will be closing on January 18, 2013.

It was announced two days ago on the game’s main website that it would eventually no longer be available to play. Those who have made purchases within the last two months wouldn’t have to worry about buyer’s remorse, as they stated they would refund any purchases made within the last 60 days. On their news page, it’s stated:

The Family Guy Online Open Beta is drawing to a close and access to Family Guy Online will end on Friday January 18, 2013. Thank you for participating.

We will be refunding all real-money purchases made within Family Guy Online in the last 60 days. See below for refund details.

Additional Refund Policy and Account Closure Information:

All real-money purchases made within Family Guy Online between the dates of October 22, 2012 and December 21, 2012 will be refunded.

And the award for the worst joke ever goes to...

The game never left public beta and while it had a fair amount of players (its official Facebook page managed to score up over 150,000 likes), that simply wasn’t adequate enough to stop its closure. If you take a look and skim over the FGO Facebook page, you can see a bunch of people complaining on posts on how the game is full glitches, lag and crashes.

Not very surprising to hear this given that a majority of games based on cartoons are by default bad. You also have a bunch of other people asking when the “full, completed game” will come out. Guess never.
